Global Business 101

The old adage is “it’s an extremely small world.” It certainly is in terms of the ability to access information from all over the planet and the connectivity with business leaders and key decision makers in every corner of the globe. This is particularly evident in global business. Global business is an expression that refers to any company or organization who conducts business outside of its home country.

All companies must ensure that they are well-prepared to tackle the challenges of global trade. This includes knowing the nuances and politics of international business, and knowing how to collaborate with colleagues and partners from countries that are different than their own.

The undergraduate Journal of Global Business and Trade (JGBT) features research papers report, essays, and other articles that are relevant to the area of global business. It is also an official journal of the Consortium for Undergraduate International Business Education (CUIBE).

It’s crucial to know how cultural differences can affect the performance of your business abroad regardless of whether you’re a company owner who is thinking of entering international markets, or want to make sure your team is prepared. This means learning the customs of holidays, beliefs, and social norms of various cultures that you will encounter in your global business endeavors. It’s a great way to increase your “export IQ.” It’s also beneficial to know how to interact with business associates from different countries. For example, different cultures have different views on personal space and greetings.
